Eating Disorders are not treated at PsychNS, but referred to more specialized clinics. Co-existing disorders like depression, anxiety, etc can be treated at PsychNS.

  • Forensic / court ordered evaluations
  • Custody evaluations

Treatment Methods

At PsychNS, the goal is to form an individualized plan founded in trust which encourages patient autonomy in selecting the best evidenced based treatment option.

Is therapy offered at PsychNS?

Yes, typically as an adjunct to pharmacotherapy. However, an individualized plan is formed, which may include a referral to another clinician if necessary.

I already have a therapist, is that okay?

Yes.

Is medical marijuana prescribed here?

No.

Are benzodiazepines prescribed here?

No, with some caveats. Only under exceptional circumstances are benzodiazepines (alprazolam, lorazepam, clonazepam, temazepam, triazolam) prescribed at PscyhNS for psychiatric conditions. However, tapering prescriptions maybe considered as a treatment option for newly establishing patients who are already taking this class of medication for psychiatric indications.

Are long acting injectable antipsychotic class medicines prescribed here?

No, injection medicines are not offered here.

Are letters for Emotional Support Animals (ESA) written here?

No.

Can you schedule my child who is 17 and a half?

No. Only patients 18 years old or older will be scheduled.
